The effect of basic exercises on breathing training in Wing Chun Noi
Dear friends, after years of being with Vinh Xuan Noi Gia (VXNG) and participating in training at the Vietnamese dojo Vinh Xuan Noi Gia Quyen, I realize that the training content in the basic program has some differences.
In this article, I would like to discuss the effects of the exercises in the basic program (AThe basic breathing practice of VXNG is Dan Dien breathing practice:
Body conditioning: sitting and breathing is best in a cross-legged or half-lotus position;
As you know, the basic program (A
- Soft and loose exercises: Practice loose and soft body skills (turn into body movement habits);
- Exercises (turning legs on the spot, moving forward, backward, crawling, etc.), counter-training exercises (upper, middle, lower, ten forms), five-form hand technique exercises (static boxing), five-form exercises
- Basic breathing exercises (Dan Dien breathing).
Below I would like to analyze the effects of those exercises on basic breathing.
1. Effects on Body Conditioning
Practicing basic movements helps the practitioner correct their posture, making it suitable for body movementHave a neat, but natural, and not forced posture: standing firmly, in the correct posture, the person sits (standing) neatly, does not lean his head forward, places the center of gravity correctly, arms - legs - body are in the standard position in performing a movement (in breathing exercises, in practicing
The basic program with a large duration of static, loose and soft kata exercises in the attack position (standing with two words for restraint and yang), gradually trains the trainee to persevere in stillness; Can sit for a long time, persevere and still concentrate
Practicing laxity and basic five-shaped hand technique exercises helps loosen joints, soften muscles,Helps practitioners easily relax their bodies when practicing breathing.
Practice consciously in soft and basic exercisesHelps relax the body with awareness in regulating the body.
To have a good feel for this nuance of "awakening" in softness, you can contact the term Bodhi (Bodhi) - the original Sanskrit meaning is Awakening, indicating the Buddha's direction.
2. Effects on Articles
In his articles as well as when teaching breathing, my master, martial arts master - engineer Nguyen Ngoc Noi said that it is necessary to follow the principles of breathing practice: SMOOTH - EVEN - SLOW - DEEP -
The ancients still said, "The mind is inflamed, the mind is a horse", the Monkey's mind, always jumping here and there; Exercises will gradually erase bad habits and gradually form good habits for the body and mind:
SMOOTH - REGULAR - SLOW When practicing loose and soft, note that you must not perform the movements in a jerky, jerky, interrupted manner or practice in a flurry and rapid manner, but must do it slowly, steadily, continuously, smoothly and comfortably.
CONCENTRATION: When you spend time practicing breathing, it means it's just you and yourself, no one bothering you, no TV or movies - You really have a space for yourself, truly free. Train you in the habit of thinking, practicing, feeling, analyzing, and controlling yourselfin a space of its own
AWAKENING IN THINGS: In my opinion, if you think breathing practice is about resting and completely relaxing, that's not right.
Practicing basic movements has the effect of cultivating mindful exercise skills for students.
* Resistance and counter-training exercises are often more intuitive and vivid and easier to attract practitioners, but you need to be careful to practice at a certain level, because single exercises on the spot are an important content in training. Therefore, focusing on practicing soft movements, static boxing and simple exercises will help you get closer to the key to open the door of Wing Chun..My master often reminds me: "If you want to be good at Wing Chun, you must be good at static boxing" and "If you want to be good at Wing Chun, you must know how to practice slowly."
DEEP - LONG:
Because my accumulation is not much and my knowledge is still limited, my analysis may be limited.
Deep and long breathing is closely related to our health, longevity and mood.
In my opinion, breathing DEEP and LONG requiresaccumulation of breathing practice.
Practice breathing persistently every day along with practicing basic exercises - with physiological effects on the body to loosen joints, soften muscles, and clear meridians - accumulating essential skills for breathing practice Helps clear the way to Dan Dien faster, the ability to control and monitor the breath better to gradually deepen and lengthen the breath as desired..
Besides noting that the skills practiced through the exercises (as mentioned above) are the basic skills of breathing practice and throughout the practice, so that they become instincts of control and self-regulation. the need to restore air, promoting deep and long breathing.
Some people think that when they practice breathing, they are resting.
Above are some discussions based on my limited impressions through my own practice time.
Thank you very much for your interest in my article.
